This policy applies to pet listings in the United States marketplace. It covers pets and permitted livestock and supplements the Terms of Use and Prohibited Items and Activities Policy. These rules apply to sales, adoptions, rehoming and permitted breeding or stud services.
Listings may include domestic dogs, domestic cats, domestic rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, domesticated fancy rats or mice, birds, fish, reptiles and livestock. All birds, fish, reptiles and livestock within those groups remain subject to the restrictions below and applicable law. Listing, possession, breeding and transfer must be lawful where the animal is located and where it will be received.
Wild-caught animals and species protected under wildlife-conservation laws, including protected endangered species, are prohibited even if a seller holds a license or permit. Do not list animals obtained unlawfully or stolen animals, or arrange animal fighting, abuse, experimentation or trafficking. A broad permitted group does not override a species-specific legal prohibition.
Lawful breeding arrangements and stud services are permitted, subject to required licenses and registrations, accurate descriptions and animal welfare. Reservations, advance sales or deposits for unborn animals are prohibited. You may advertise an already-born animal before it is old enough to transfer only if the listing clearly states the permitted transfer date and all other conditions are satisfied. Lawful supplies and care services may use an appropriate available category.
United States listings must comply with applicable federal, state and local animal welfare, sale, adoption and transport laws, including licensing requirements where they apply. A seller must not claim that Liztd approval replaces a government license, veterinary certificate or legally required disclosure.
You must have lawful ownership or documented authority to arrange the transfer. Identify whether you are an owner, breeder, rescue, shelter or other organisation. Provide accurate licensing or registration details when required by law or requested for a compliance review. Do not falsely describe a commercial sale as a charitable rescue or rehoming.
Describe the animal’s species, known age or estimated age, sex, breed or mix where known, current location and proposed fee or price. State when a detail is uncertain. Include recent photographs of the actual animal. Disclose known health conditions, disability, medication, vaccination status, behavioral concerns, bite history where known, special care needs and any relevant transfer restrictions.
Do not promise a particular temperament, adult size, pedigree or health outcome without a reliable basis. Do not fabricate veterinary, ownership or pedigree records. Give a prospective recipient relevant records before transfer, with unnecessary personal information removed.
As a platform rule, puppies and kittens must be at least eight weeks old and fully weaned before transfer. A higher legal or welfare requirement controls. Other permitted animals must meet applicable minimum ages and development requirements, be weaned where appropriate to the species, and be fit for the proposed transfer. Do not separate an animal prematurely, conceal contagious illness or arrange transport inconsistent with its welfare.
Animals with known medical or behavioral needs may be responsibly rehomed only where lawful, accurately disclosed and consistent with veterinary advice and recipient capability. Disclosure does not authorize an unsafe transfer or cruelty.
Independently assess the seller’s identity and authority, the animal’s condition, relevant records and the place where it is being kept. Consider a veterinary assessment. Confirm that you can lawfully keep the animal and provide appropriate space, care, treatment and long-term support.
Agree in writing on fees, known conditions, records and handover arrangements. Avoid pressure to pay before you can reasonably verify the animal and seller. Payment protection varies by provider and transaction. Liztd does not collect the payment or provide escrow, shipping insurance, a health guarantee or purchase protection.
Before a lawful transfer, record the identity of the animal, agreed price or adoption fee, known health and behavioral disclosures, included records, proposed transfer date and any cancellation or return terms. Give the recipient records needed for lawful ownership and care, while protecting unnecessary personal information. Mandatory animal-welfare and consumer rights continue to apply.
Reservations or deposits for unborn animals remain prohibited. For an already-born animal, any lawful deposit arrangement must identify the animal, amount, permitted transfer date and refund conditions in writing before payment. A deposit does not permit early transfer, a prohibited species or an unlawful transaction. Never describe a payment to a seller as protected or held by Liztd.
For transport across a state, regional or national border, the parties must confirm all applicable import, export, health, identification and transport requirements before arranging the transfer. Do not ship or transport an animal if the route, carrier or conditions would be unlawful or unsafe.
Liztd hosts user-generated listings. It does not own, take custody of, inspect, certify or transport listed animals. A listing, profile, review or badge does not certify health, welfare, ownership, breeding quality or legal compliance. Users remain responsible for their own lawful conduct; Liztd remains responsible for duties that the law places on the platform.
The liability and dispute provisions in the Terms of Use apply, subject to mandatory law. This policy does not create an additional blanket waiver of consumer rights or release Liztd from its own non-excludable obligations.
Use Report on the relevant listing when available, or email support@liztd.com with the listing URL and a factual explanation. The in-product report route requires sign-in and any required account verification. Do not purchase an animal or confront someone solely to investigate a concern. For immediate danger or suspected cruelty requiring intervention, contact appropriate local authorities or animal welfare services.
We may request information, remove a listing, restrict an account, preserve evidence or disclose it where lawfully required. Appeals follow the Reporting Policy. Enforcement does not guarantee that every harmful listing will be detected.
We will post the current version and its effective date on this page. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days of advance notice through a prominent platform notice or email, unless a change must take effect sooner to meet a legal requirement or address an urgent security or safety issue. We will obtain consent where the law requires it. Changes do not retroactively alter a completed transaction or remove nonwaivable rights.
